O by Cirque du Soleil

If you pick just one Cirque show to see while in Vegas, it’s hard to go wrong with this one. It’s basically a high-flying stunt show over water. The production is among the very best on the Strip, even if some of the characters look like extras from Eyes Wide Shut.

Blue Man Group

Yeah, this show about guys in blue paint banging on stuff has been around forever, but stays current with up-to-date references. It’s one of those productions that keeps re-inventing itself year after year, while proving there’s no limit to how many marshmallows one dude can stuff into his mouth.

Sort of a parody take off on the Cirque du Soleil acrobatic show model, it combines humor, gymnastic feats, and sideshow performers into a throwback Vaudevillian variety routine. It is by far the smallest of the big Vegas shows, seating just 600 around a stage less than ten feet in diameter, for very intimate theater in the round. It is very, very funny, and also crude and raunchy. It is not for the prudish, so consider yourself warned – if you describe yourself as prim you probably want to skip it, but for the rest of us it is a can’t miss – just about every person I’ve spoken to, including myself, ranked it number one in the city.

Penn & Teller

This comedy/magic duo have been headliners in Vegas forever and with good reason: equal parts awe-inspiring illusions and sharp-witted humor continue to impress audience members even after multiple viewings. If you see one magic show in Vegas, make it Penn & Teller.

The sexiest show Cirque has ever produced, Zumanity is an erotic version of all the things Cirque does best, highlighting the beautiful bodies of the performers as they dance, contort, flip, and fly around each other in what is absolutely the sexiest striptease in Vegas.
